Abstract

405,516. Locking levers. WYNDHAM, J. H., Uplands, Grosvenor Road, Godalming, Surrey. June 7, 1933, No. 16349. [Class 80 (iii).] A device for locking a hand brake or other lever comprises a rack member 10 rotatably mounted on the lever 1 and engageable with a pin 17 on a pawl member 12 mounted on a fixed pivot 15. When the lever is turned in the direction of the arrow about its pivot 6 the pawl member is caused to slide up the lever which depresses a spring plunger 19 carried by the pawl. The rack 10 is formed on a rod which is rotatably mounted in the lever and has a winged head 11 whereby the rack may be disengaged from the pin 17 to permit the return of the lever. A short cam lever pivoted to the pawl member 12 and engaging the lever 1 at one end and connected to a spring at the other may replace the plunger 19.
