Abstract

A motor vehicle brake light checking device includes a housing unit containing a spring for pressing down the brake pedal and holding down the brake pedal to allow the functioning of the brake light to be checked by one person. Cushioning means may be provided to hold the device in position. The device is preferably fitted between the driver's seat and the brake pedal.

Description

Brake-light checking device application 4 pages 1 Brake-light checking
device This invention relates to a device for checking the rear brakelights of a motor vehicle.
When drivers want to check if their rear brake-lights are functioning, the only option they have is to ask someone to stand at the rear of the car and look at the brake-lights whilst the driver pushes on the brake pedal. However, this can be inconvenient if the driver is alone. If a driver is alone in the vehicle, often he or she will jam something against the brake (e.g. a piece of wood) in order to be able to then walk around to the rear of the vehicle and check to see if the brake-lights are working.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a spring-loaded device that is compressed and placed between the driver's seat of a vehicle and the brake pedal. When the device is released, the spring decompresses and the device applies pressure to the brake pedal, enough to activate the brake-lights and enable the driver to walk to the rear of the vehicle and check the brake-lights.
Using this device will give the motor vehicle driver a clean, efficient and simple way of checking his/her brake lights either at the start of a journey or half way through a long one thus augmenting their road safety and the road safety of other drivers.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: figure shows a brakelight checking device 1:1 Pads 1:2 Torsion Spring 1:3 Housing Unit
