Abstract
A brake assistant includes an extendable bar 1 which is attached to a fixed top plate 6 and a flexible joint 8 to a bottom plate 7, having a holding open/release catch device 4. The holding open/release catch device may be a threaded connection. In use the brake assistant extends between a driver's seat 2 and a brake pedal 3, to activate the brake lights via pressing of the pedal. This allows a single person to check the functioning of the brake lights.
Description
Brake Buddy This invention relates to a device fo drivers carrying out
brake and / or vehicle checks.
When drivers are doing brake and I or vehicle checks they need the help of another person. However, when there is no one around to help, this can lead to difficulties in carrying out the required checks because a driver cannot be in his cab and at the back of the vehicle at the same time.
To overcome this problem, the invention proposes to engage an extendable bar with a top bar to press against the driver's seat and a base unit to press on the brake pedal engaging the brake light switch.
i he extendable car will ensure the engagement of the brake light making the dnver able to check them while out of his vehicle.
Preferably, the bar will have a top plate and bottom plate.
Preferably, the bar will have a holding open device fitted.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing: Picture 1 Figure 1 a shows, no device fitted Figure lb shows no lights on Figure 2a shows device fitted Figure 2b shows lights on Picture 2 Shows a extendabl.e bar according to the invention A extendable bar 1 is placed between the driver's seat 2 and the brake pedal 3 using the holding open / release device 4. Extend bar 1 until the top plate 6 is against the seat and the flexible bottom plate 7 is against the brake pedal ensuring the brake light switch 5 is activated. The flexible bottom joiht 8 may be adjusted to the brake pedal angle. Cims
