Abstract

366,352. Road vehicle couplings. SCHARFENBERGKUPPLUNG AKT.-GES. 105, Kurf³rstenstrasse, Berlin, and SCHARFENBERG, K., 27, Sudetenstrasse, Nicolassee, Germany. April 13, 1931, No. 10807. [Class 79 (iii).] In a form of road vehicle coupling wherein a rotatable rimmed disc a connected to one e vehicle enters a flared co-operating member c pivotally attached to the other vehicle and is held therein by a spring-pressed pawl e, the connection is rendered positive in both directions by a supplementary hook or catch g pivotally carried by the pawl e and pressed by a spring f so that it embraces the outer edge of the disc as the pawl e engages the inner side of the rim. To release the coupling, levers o, p are grasped, an arm n on the lever o pressing upon a boss m to withdraw the catch g, the lever p then being rocked to depress the pawl e. In an alternative construction, an extension is provided above the nose of the catch g so that it may be withdrawn by direct manipulation.
