Dec. 20, 1930, No. 38474, [Class 103 (i).] In a braking device for trailer vehicles in which the brakes are automatically applied when the trailer tends to overtake the tractor, the draw-bar of the trailer comprises a single shaft carrying a spring-controlled slidable member f connected by a universal coupling a, c to the tractor and having a pin-and-slot connection q, r with a lever pivoted at n to the draw-bar and adjustably connected at t to the cable-operated brakes, the lever comprising two connected members o, Fig. 3, between which the draw-bar is disposed. A detachable cover may be fitted to the coupling to encase the moving parts and lubricating-cups may also be fitted.
