Abstract

409,500. Trailer brakes. NORTH, O. D., 76, Elm Park Mansions, Park Walk, Chelsea, HUGH, P. G., and SCAMMELL LORRIES, Ltd., 52, High Holborn, both in London. March 31, 1933, No. 9777. [Class 103 (i).] Trailer brakes are operated from the tractor by means of a member 4 carried by the trailer and slidable along the axis of articulation of the tractor and trailer and a lever 12 carried by the tractor and guided by means of a channel section ramp 3 into engagement with the member 4 when the tractor and trailor are coupled. The lever 12 is connected by connection 15 to a brake pedal on the tractor and is pivoted at 16 on the ramp 3 projecting from the rear of the tractor. The horizontal arm of the lever 12 is also of channel section adapted to slide under and receive the end of the member 4 when the vehicles are coupled and is pivoted by a bolt at each side. The member 4 is provided with a cylindrical upper end 6 adapted to slide in the hollow king pin 5 of the trailer turntable base. Specification 409,417, [Group XXXI], is referred to.
