Abstract
380,118. Gas burners. COMMERCIAL GAS CO. and PARRIS, W. R., Harford Street, Stepney, London. June 9, 1931, No. 16822. [Class 75 (i).] An atmospheric gas burner is provided with a single annular burner orifice or two concentric burner orifices formed between two parts which are automatically moved relatively to one another as the gas pressure varies whereby the area of one or both of the orifices is varied. Two orifices may be formed between a verticallyadjustable ring 4 and the walls 2, 3 of an annular trough at the upper end of a mixing tube 1, the upper end of the inner periphery of either or both of the walls being coned, or the ring 4 may be formed to provide a single orifice between it and the outer or inner wall. The ring and trough may be square, rectangular or oval. The ring is connected by a spider 5 to a slidable rod 6 engaging a cam 19 on a cross shaft 18 connected by levers 17 and links 16 to a cross-bar 12 carried by distancepieces 13 on a cross-bar 11 connected to the flexible diaphragm 10 of a gas governor 8, a counterweight 20 tending to maintain the ring in the raised position. The air inlet may be simultaneously controlled by a plate 15 carried by the bar 12 and the orifice of the nipple 14 by a tapered needle (not shown) connected to the diaphragm.
