354,072. Atmospheric gas burners. WOLFF, F. and SELAS AKT.-GES., 10, Mullerstrasse, Berlin. Aug. 19, 1930, No. 24797. [Class 75 (i).] In a pressure gas burner for furnaces in which part of the air is drawn in by the gas issuing from a nipple 20 into a mixing-tube 23 and the remainder of the air by the mixture issuing from the tube 23 into a second mixing-tube 24, the nipple 20 and tubes 23, 24 are spaced apart so that they do not project into one another. The tubes 23, 24 are connected by arms 28 to the nipple or gas chamber 21, the tube 23 being longitudinally adjustable. When the burner is not in use, the inlet end of the tube 24 may be closed by means of a pivoted or other cover 25. The burner is adapted for use with gases of varying calorific value by varying the cross-sectional area of the nipple and, if necessary, the pressure of the gas so that the calorific value of the gas issuing per second from the nipple remains approximately constant. For this purpose, interchangeable nipples or one or more inner nipples 19, adapted to be retracted as by a screwed rod 22, may be provided.
