Abstract

226,595. Helps, G. Sept. 21, 1923. Atmospheric gas burners.-An atmospheric burner for testing gas flames comprises a metal tube g, having glass or other windows h and mounted slidably on a metal mixing-tube e, a stuffing box j preventing passage of air between the tubes. The air-outlets d are regulated by means of a loose ring l, which rests on the slotted portion of a threaded ring k<1> and is locked in adjusted position by a threaded ring k. When the tube g is raised above the burner head f, the flame m produced by a completely combustible mixture remains on the burner head, but, if additional air is required for complete combustion, the outer cone of the flame is lifted from the inner cone.
