366,119. Driving auxiliary apparatus on motor vehicles. WERF CONRAD NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP, (formerly NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP SCHEEPSWERF EN WERKTUIGENFABRIK WERF CONRAD), Haarlem, Holland. Oct. 28, 1930, No. 32359. Convention date, Dec. 2, 1929. [Class 79 (ii).] Auxiliary apparatus, such as a winch 15, on a motor vehicle is driven from the road driving wheels 5, after the vehicle has been jacked to raise these from the ground, through the medium of friction wheels 8 mounted on the vehicle in the planes of the road wheels and into engagement with which the road wheels are adapted to be raised. For this purpose, one end of the road wheel axle 17 may be drawn up to the frame by means of a turnbuckle 10 whilst the other end may be raised by means of a hand-lever 11 pivoted at its end 13 to the axle and at an adjacent point 12 to a second, swinging, turnbuckle 12a. The transmission of drive is stopped by disengaging one road wheel owing to the action of the ordinary differential gear. Alternatively direct turnbuckle connections may be provided at each end of the axle, in which case one of the friction wheels 8 is connected to the shaft 7 through a clutch. The winch may be driven from the shaft 7 through gearing 14, 15. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also arrangements wherein (1) the shaft 7 is mounted in a frame adapted to be rocked about the axis of the winch into engagement with the road wheels and (2) the friction wheels are carried on an intermediate shaft in a rock frame interposed between the shaft 7 and the road wheels. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
