[Class 80 (ii).] In a development of the auxiliary rear-axle bevel two-speed gear of the parent Specification, the speed change is effected by sliding a sleeve such as b3 with a clutch head b<2>. In the arrangement of the Figure, the sleeve b<3> is in driving connection with the differential c and may engage alternatively clutch rings b, bl inside the hubs of wheels B, B<1> constantly driven from pinions A, A<1> fast on the cardan shaft d. In a modified arrangement, the clutch sleeve slides so as to connect the cardan shaft alternatively to an aligned pinion shaft or to a pinion sleeve on the latter. The driven bevel wheels are in this case both fast to the differential casing.
