Abstract

469,802. Motor-vehicle driving-gearing. WILSON, A. G. Jan. 2, 1936, No. 189. [Class 79 (ii)] A power drive for two axles comprises an epicyclic change-speed gear the input shaft a of which passes through the output shaft b, the latter having a slidable clutch member k thereon adapted to engage either of two bevel pinions n, n<1>, gearing with a single bevel wheel q geared to the two axles so as to drive the latter in either direction. The invention is shown applied to a Wilson gear-box having four speeds provided by epicyclic trains A .. D and also a direct drive through a friction clutch c through which the shafts a, b can be coupled together. The friction clutch may be controlled as described in Specification 454,149. The bevel wheel q is fixed to a shaft r driving shafts 4, 5 leading to the two axles (not shown) through bevel gearing t, v, a differential gear y being provided if desired. The gearing is all enclosed in a casing j.
