Abstract
167,488. Minnard, M. Aug. 9, 1920, [Convention date]. Combination and convertible apparatus.-A motor-vehicle having a longitudinal Cardan shaft is converted into a road-sweeping machine, a rotary brush being provided and additional reducing gear for driving the vehicle and the brush being fitted between the cardan shaft and the differential. The brush shaft b is carried in a frame c pivoted at d and e to a frame f, g bolted to the vehicle chassis. The brush is raised and lowered by means of a hand-lever j connected by a link k to a rib i on the brush frame. The propeller shaft m drives the vehicle through spur reducing gear n and the usual differential gear, and the gear wheel n can be clutched at q to a universally-jointed shaft r driving the brush through bevel gearing t<1>, t<3>.
