Abstract
364,318. Thermionic valves ; electric incandescent lamps &c. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 19, 1930, No. 38339. Convention date, July 19. [Class 39 (i).] The supporting wires for the electrodes of electron discharge tubes, thermionic valves and incandescent lamps are arranged in the pinch in two or more rows, glass members being inserted between adjacent rows and the pinch being of the usual approximately rectangular shape. Fig. 4 shows in plan the pinch of a thermionic valve in which the supporting wires 8, 14 are arranged in two rows, with an intervening glass member 15. The pinch may be made by mounting the wires in a stem and inserting a glass rod 15 between the two rows. The end of the stem is then pinched, the rod 15 becoming incorporated therewith. Another method consists in surrounding the wires with glass tubes 13, as shown in Fig. 6, which become incorporated with the stem during the pinching operation.
