Abstract
362,450. Boiler cleaners. WILSON, A. M., 170, Hope Street, Glasgow. Sept. 4; 1930, No. 26374. [Class 99 (ii).] In a boiler cleaner of the kind comprising an ejecting nozzle 6 which is normally housed within a protecting wall-box 5 means are provided for introducing a cooling medium, such as air or steam, from a pipe 24 to the interior of the box 5 in the vicinity of the said nozzle. The pipe 24 is provided with a header 25 which is bolted to the flange 5a of the wall-box, and the latter is formed with ports 22 which communicate with openings 23 in the said box by passages 21 in external fin-like projections 20 on the box. The passages 21 extend obliquely from the ports 22 and open approximately tangentially into the wall-box so that the cooling fluid is caused to swivel around the blower nozzle. An additional cooling effect may also be obtained by admitting air to the interior of the nozzle when it is not in use through a non-return valve 26 on the blower casing 16.
