Abstract
390,895. Boiler cleaners. MOSES, R. I., 1, Wear Terrace, Norton, Stockton-on- Tees. Dec. 30, 1931, No. 36029. [Class 99 (ii).] Boiler tubes are cleaned by pressure fluid, e.g. steam, projected on to the tubes in jets through nozzles 76, Fig. 6, which are screwed into holes in a tubular conduit 1 to which the steam is supplied and project through holes in a second tubular member 2 external to the first ; the tube 2 is divided into two passages 16, 17 by longitudinal webs 12, 13 welded to the tube 1, and the cleaning steam is adapted to be circulated through these passages when cut off from the tube 1 in the intervals between cleaning to cool the said tubes and nozzles. The tubular members at one end are rotatably mounted in a fluidtight manner in a casting 3 which is resiliently supported within the usual wall box 4 and carries a second casing 27. The latter comprises a steam chest 28 having an inlet 32 and ports 34, 35, controlled by a valve 40 operated by a rotatable spindle 42, leading to the tubes 1, 2 respectively, and is also provided with an outlet 46 leading to a point beyond the superheater for the cooling steam after its passage through the tube 2. The nozzles 76 may be constituted by drilled bosses 22, Fig. 4, on the web 13. Specification 375,511 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
