Abstract

682,568. Turbines. RODER, K. A. Feb. 1, 1951 [Feb. 2, 1949], No. 2563/51. Class 110(iii) A turbine is heated prior to starting by circulating steam through it by means of an ejector which is supplied with operating fluid from the turbine working fluid supply pipe upstream of the main stop valve, the discharge of the ejector being connected to one or more openings provided in the lower wall of the turbine casing and the suction conduit being connected to one or more openings in the upper part of the wall of the casing. With the main valve g still closed, the valve v is opened to allow steam to flow to the ejector c from which it is discharged through conduits e, r, s, t into openings provided in the lower half of the turbine casing m. This steam flows upwards through the casing and is withdrawn by the ejector through pipes d, r<SP>1</SP> s<SP>1</SP>, t<SP>1</SP>, connected to suitable openings in the upper half of the casing. Part of the steam from the ejector passes out through the exhaust p. K is a means for draining away the water of condensation.
