Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-A sandblast apparatus for cleaning the fire-tubes of locomotive and other boilers, whether or not they are under steam, is mounted e.g. on the backplate or fire-door of the locomotive boiler so as to project through the back water space 1, 2, Fig. 1, and comprises a casing 4, Figs. 1 and 3, sand-hopper 5, ejector 6, steam-supply pipe 7, air-admission openings 8 or 8<a>, discharge nozzle 9, handle 10, and sand-control valve 11 or 11<a>, the apparatus being mounted on a suitable bracket 12 in such a way that its direction can be varied by operating the handle 10. In the form shown in Fig. 1, rotation of the handle 10 opens both the sand valve 11 and a steam valve 21, while in the device shown in Fig. 3, the sand valve 11<a> and the steam valve are separately operated.
