Abstract

189,255. Bennett, J. C. Sept. 3, 1921. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.- A soot - blower for boiler tubes, comprising steam jet arms mounted for rotation in front of the flue openings, and having the arms bent to conform with the outline of the marginal flue openings, is provided with a reciprocating valve for admitting steam alternately to the arms as they are rocked in front of the flue sheet. Steam is admitted to the elbow 8, Fig. 2, and thence through a pipe 11 to the valve body 12, Fig. 3. The valve 16 is prevented from rotation within the valve body by the pin 21 and key-way 20, and is reciprocated by means of a rod 18 to permit the. passage of steam alternately to the angle connections 13, 14 to which the jet arms 24, Fig. 1, are joined. The rod 18 also serves for rotating the jet arms, and is provided with a hand-wheel 19 external to the boiler door 5.
