Abstract

Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-In a fluid-pressure soot remover comprising a jet device permanently mounted so as to be rotatable over the tube ends, automatic means are provided for draining off the condensed cleaning-agent and for admitting air into the cleaning-system for drying it. As shown applied to a vertical boiler 1, a jet-pipe 7 is carried by a pipe 3, which extends vertically through the smoke-box and is swivellingly attached to an offset 5 of the supply-pipe 6, so that the jets may be swept over the tube ends by means of the handle 8. The pipe 5 has a drip-valve 10, which has a plunger normally spring-pressed away from its seat to allow water to drain away, and an air-valve 11 which has a plunger weighted so as normally to open a lateral inlet to atmosphere. Both valves close under the pressure of the steam or other cleaning-agent. Specification 17,819/11 is referred to.
