Abstract

170,991. Broscombe, H., and Economical Boiler Washing Co., Ltd. Aug. 26, 1920. Washing-out.-A fitting for use in washing- out locomotive and other boilers is adapted to be inserted through one of the usual wash-out holes and to discharge a number of jets of water laterally along its length. A pipe 1 closed at one end 2 has a number of discharge nozzles 3, each having its wider end inside the tube and its axis so inclined as to project the water radially. The nozzle near the closed end of the pipe may be at right-angles to the axis of the tube, and the nozzle near the connection with the inlet pipe may be more inclined than the other nozzles.
