Abstract

175,628. Westerberg, C. A. A. Feb. 14, 1921, [Convention date]. Cleaning, fluid pressure processes for.-Relates to devices for cleaning boiler flues by means of steam jets, and consists in a steam supply pipe provided with nozzles, the steam jets from which play upon the whole surface of the flue when the pipe is rotated. The sectional area of the pipe is decreased, and the outlet area of the nozzles is increased, in the direction of the flow of steam. Steam is admitted to pipe 3, Fig. 1, from the casing 1 through ports 6. The pipe is provided with a hand-wheel 5 for rotation within the casing. Screwed to pipe 3 is a flange 9, itself screwed to nozzle 11, and similar pipes, flanges, and nozzles are provided to the required length of the flue tube,the end nozzle being of a modified form. Fig. 3 shows the section of the nozzle outlet on the line A-A, Fig. 1. In a modification, the steam jets are projected from the nozzles in a forward direction.
