349,623. Coke oven doors. KOPPERS AKT.-GES., H., 29, Moltkestrasse, Essen, Germany. March 1, 1930, No. 6831. Convention date, March 2, 1929. [Class 123 (i).] A coke oven door comprises a plug 10 to which is adjustably secured an overlying resilient plate 14 carrying a packing strip 15 shaped to engage tightly against the front of the surround of the doorway 19. Screws 16 in the main door frame 13 adjust the pressure of the packing strip 15 against the doorway. The main frame 13 is secured by bolts 12 to a girder 11 carrying the plug 10, and is held in place by pivoted locking-bars 20 engaging hooks in the doorway 19. Bolts 18 tighten the door against the doorway 19 and at the same time tighten the packing 15. A packing is disposed between the doorway 19 and the oven lining.
