Abstract
708,676. Coke-oven doors. KOPPERS GES. H. Jan. 18, 1952 [Jan. 29, 1951], No. 1548/52. Class 55 (1) A coke-oven door has a sealing frame 18 secured to a rearwardly projecting flange 14 of the door body which is urged into sealing engagement with a surface 20 of the door frame 6 by a series of resilient pressure elements comprising a stack of leaf or blade springs 16, one of the springs having an upturned end 17 which abuts the sealing frame. The springs 16 are mounted on the flange 14 by nuts or bolts 23, a compression spring 26 being placed on the stem of the bolt to enable the pressure exerted by the springs 16 to be adjusted. The sealing frame here consists of a resilient plate 18' carrying an angle frame 19. In a modification, Fig. 2, two parallel bar springs 28 secured in an extension 15 of the flange 14 replace the springs 16 ; the adjusting bolt 23 extends between the two springs 28 and a transverse connecting piece 29 mounted on the free ends of the springs transmits the pressure to the sealing frame 18 which is in this case of one-piece construction.
