Abstract

469,643. Striking-plates for latches. McKINNEY, C. J., and REID, J. S. Dec. 23, 1936, No. 35247. [Class 44] The striking - plate for the latch bolt 2 of an automobile door 1 has a body portion 9 of yieldable material such as rubber with a thin face plate 10 of metal or other wearresisting material. The plate has a main shoulder 6 and a safety shoulder 7, and a metal strip 12 embedded in the yielding body 9 serves as an abutment for the heads of the screws 13 which secure the plate to the door frame 3. A plate 15 is welded to the inside of the door frame 3 to receive the ends of,the screws 13. The end portions 24 of the face plate 10 are bent beneath. the body portion 9, and a yielding member 25 is mounted between the plate and the door frame.
