Abstract

268,313. Schwarz, H. March 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Coke-oven doors.-In a self sealing coke-oven door, the escape of gases is prevented by providing separate closed hollow spaces 8, 9 between the door 3 and its frame 1. The spaces 8 are formed by ribs 6 on the door which engage with recesses 5 in the frame and the space 9 by an annular hollow chamber. The gases which escape past the adjacent surfaces 7 expand in the space 9 and their outflow is restricted by passage through the recesses 5.
