Abstract
691,046. Coke oven, &c. doors. WOLFF, E. July 6, 1950 [July 8, 1949], No. 18053/49. Class 55(i) A door frame 11 for a coke oven &c., is formed as an integral member of square or substantially square cross-section, preferably of cast iron with a core 17 of wrought iron. The outer face of the frame has a machined seating face 12 against which metallic sealing members 13 on the door 14 are adapted to abut, also, on the two vertical sides, catches 15 for engagement by the usual door latches. The frame may be secured to members 31, riveted at 160 to the oven cover plates 30, by clamps 32 each of which is associated with a hookheaded screw 18, engaging a shoulder on a member 31, and has its two ends bearing, respectively, on plate 30 and a wedge 23 located on the frame; an inner edge of the frame is preferably recessed at 25 to-form a bevelled surface to mate with ribs 24 on the said members 31.
