470,684. Doors for resisting fluid pressure. FORSANS, P. E. H. Jan. 11, 1937, No. 829. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1936. [Class 123 (i)] In a sealing device for a coke-oven door, a plane seating 1 is provided around the oven, and two independent sealing strips 3 are provided in a groove 4 arranged around the periphery of the door. The strips 3 are spaced by asbestos 6 and abut against a flat spring 7. The strips are pressed against the seating by a bar 8 and a number of screws 9. In a modification, a larger number of strips 3 may be used, and the bar 8 may have two contact ridges. In another modification, Fig. 4, the asbestos packing 6 may extend into contact with the seating 1.
