347,004. Variable - speed gearing. DUCKITT, W., Crown Works, Tyburn, Birmingham. April 26, 1930, No. 12880. [Class 80 (ii).] In change-speed gearing of the countershaft type, direct drive is obtained by a slidable clutch pin c inside driven shaft b with teeth C<1> near one end for interlocking with teeth a<3> on the driving-shaft a. Near its other end, the pin c supports transverse pegs C<SP>2> which engage a clutch d splined on shaft b. This clutch d engages teeth on a loose gear e for second-highest speed, and is engaged by a striker f for operating the pin c. Lower speeds are effected by intermediate sliding gears g.
