Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 80 (ii).] In variable-speed gearing for automobiles &c., a clutch sleeve b splined on the driven shaft d is engageable with the driving shaft c and with a loose wheel e<1> driven through helical gearing h<1>, h2, e2. A pinion g splined to the clutch sleeve b engages a pinion p for first speed and a pinion q engaging a pinion q<1> for reverse. The members b, g are separately operated from a lever r, actuating rods o<2>, &c., which are locked against simultaneous operation by spring detents.
