Abstract

344,188. Chain wrenches and vices. ABEL, J. H., 29, Northern Road, Plaistow, London. Feb. 15, 1930, No. 5123. [Classes 61 (ii) and 61 (iii).] A chain wrench for round, hexagonal, &c. work comprises a cam lever 2 with a cam portion 4 to which the chain 1 is pivoted on a pin 12, the free end of the chain being engaged by a hook 5. The chain may be locked by a pivoted stirrup 6 adapted to hold the chain rollers pressed against corrugations on the edge of the lever 2 ; the stirrup is held in locking postion by a screw or pin 7. In a modification, Fig. 3, adapted for use as a pipe vice, increased pressure may be put on the work by a wire strainer 9 connected at one end to the lever and at the other end to a projection 8 on the chain.
