Rope grips.-Comprises a rope grip in which the movable jaw d is pivoted at c<2> to a hand-lever c pivoted at c' to the fixed jaw a, and is retained in the gripping position by a pivoted catch h which engages a surface a<4> on the fixed: jaw, the engaging surfaces h<2>, a<4> being eccentric. The load is attached to the hook c pivoted to the movable jaw, so that the pull of the load tends to tighten the grip. If the grip pushes the load, the hook, when raised, bears against a part a<3> cf the fixed jaw, and this tends to tighten the grip. Either the fixed or the movable jaw orboth may be fitted with renewable liners.
