Abstract

Ratchet wrenches; handles.-In rigid-jaw wrenches of the kind in which the handle is frictionally clutched to the head, either of these members is provided with projecting studs engaging a ring segment rigidly fixed to the other member. As shown, a handle c, Figs. 4 and 6, is provided with studs c<3>, c<4> engaging a ring segment a<3> integral with a head a so that when held radially the handle is free to swing relatively to the head, and when a nut is engaged the handle swings out of the radial position and frictionally grips the head. The handle c has a flat extension c<2> against which the head a engages, whereby the latter is easily detachable and may be replaced by heads of different sizes. A spring-pressed pin c<5> engaging a groove a<4> in the head prevents unintentional detachment of the parts. The handle c may be in two parts pivoted at d, Fig. 7.
