Abstract
205,705. Cochrane, D. G., and Hindmarsh, J. Nov. 1, 1922. Rope grips.-A self-acting two-way rope grip comprises two L-shaped mem. bers a, b pivoted together at c. When the rope is guided into the entrance between the jaws a<1>, b<2> it contacts with a depending tongue g of the member b and so rotates the upper jaw to grip the rope in the recesses d, f. The recess d does not extend the full width of the jaw a<1>, while the upper jaw has a convex under face having a flattened centre portion. The tongue g may be grooved to engage one strand of the rope. An eye-bolt at the upper end of the member b provides for the attachment of the grip to the wagon to be hauled. In a modified arrangement for overhead haulage, the clip is mounted on a horizontal base plate with the jaws vertical.
