Abstract
353,946. Slings. THIRLWELL, R., 9, Newmarket Street, Consett, Durham. April 29, 1930, No. 13201. [Class 78 (iv).] A sling of the type in which a running noose is formed by passing the eye at one end of a rope over a hook on a block and then passing the rope through the block which has lateral projections at its lower part for maintaining the rope eye in position is provided with (1) a pin which passes through holes H in the lateral projections F and centre part of the block A, and prevents detachment of the loop in the end of the rope from the groove D, (2) a sliding clamp L adapted to bear against the portion C of the rope which runs through the hole B. Fig. 8 shows a pin I provided with a pivoted tongue J adapted to be turned at right-angles to the pin after it has been inserted through the holes H, thereby preventing its removal. The clamp L, Fig. 1, fits in a rectangular slot M in the block A, and is pressed against the rope by a bolt N screwed into the block and provided with either a hole o or a square head for tightening purposes.
