Abstract

Slings.-In a sling of the type in which a running noose is formed by passing the rope through a curved hole such as B in a block, and then looping the eye at the end of the rope over a hook attached to the block, the hole B is elliptical in cross-section, while the hook portion comprises a pear-shaped slot D with enlarged head E and side projections or wings F ending in proximity to upstanding lugs G on the block.
