Rope grips.-In a rope grip for colliery haulage and like purposes of the kind comprising a plate with an inwardly inclined flange and an actuating lever pivoted to the plate and formed with a cam gripping surface, the Lever c has a straight arm and a curved eccentric cam surface d and the plate a is bent at an acute angle to form the flange b. Slight rounded bulges g are provided on the plate at each end of the groove between the plate and the flange. A groove h is formed in the face of the cam. A cotter pin j is inserted through an aperture k in the flange to retain the rope in the grip when the grip reverses automatically on passing round a haulage pulley.
