Abstract

337,376. Vickers, H. F. April 29, 1929. Fixed-abutment type; discharge and suction pipes and passages for pumps; balancing moving parts.- A sliding vane pump or motor has two pairs of ports 10, 10, 11, 11 with the members of each pair diametrically disposed and with the members of one pair 10, 10 connected by equal branch passages 26 in the pump casing to a common inlet 25 coaxial with the rotor shaft white the other pair 11 are connected to outlet passages 30 in the pump casing parallel to and in the horizontal plane of the rotor shaft. The rotor is accordingly pressure balanced. The outlet passages 30 may lead to a single discharge opening 29. The working chamber is closed by end discs 34 on the rotor which are arranged in recesses 33 in the casing provided with ducts 41<a>, 41 and non-return valves 80 for the return of leakage fluid to the outlet passage. The working periphery 15 of the chamber between the inlet and outlet ports 10, 11 is concentric with the rotor.
