Abstract

658,100. Rotary pumps. VICKERS, Inc. Dec. 6, 1949, No. 31227. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1948. [Class 110(ii)] Two pumps with rotors 26, 28 are driven by a shaft 40 and are separated by a single cheek plate 82 which contains fluid distributing channels for the two pumps. The pumps shown have sliding vanes 34 pressed outwards by their respective delivery fluids which are supplied to annular grooves below the inner ends of the vanes. A common supply 64 leads to inlet ports 66, 68 for the larger pump and to passages 70, 72 passing through the plate 82 and leading to inlet ports 86, 90 for the second pump. Delivery ports 92, 94 for the first pump lead to a chamber 96 and outlet 98, the fluid pressure forcing the plate 82 to the right, Fig. 1, aided by light springs 135. The second pump delivers into a chamber 120 leading, through a tubular member 122, to an outlet 114. The delivery fluid exerts end pressure on a sealing disc 115 which is also under pressure of a light spring 138. Packing rings 142, 144, 146, 148 and 150 are provided. The plates 82, 115 are prevented from rotating by through pins. The shaft 40 is supported in bearings 46, 48. Specification 395,693 is referred to.
