Abstract

855,296. Rotary pumps and motors. WAHLMARK, G. A. May 2, 1958, No. 14059/58. Class 110 (2). A rotary pump or motor having outwardly-sliding radial vanes is provided with a flexible vane ring 30 which has thickened portions 34 engaged by displaceable rocker arms 36 and intermediate portions supported by projections 51 integral with the housing 32, the pressure differential across the rocker arms serving to flex the normally cylindrical vane ring into an elliptical member to thereby vary the displacement of the unit. The unit is also provided with an axiallyflexible plate 88 having arcuate grooves 92 connected by passages 94 to a compensating zone 96. The end-plate 100 is provided with an annular groove 114 establishing communication between the vane slots and the outlet conduit 110 and is also provided with a passage 118 for feeding leakage fluid along the shaft 12 to the inlet conduit 106.
