Abstract

807,607. Rotary pumps. GILBERT & BAKER MANUFACTURING CO. June 28, 1957 [Aug. 8, 1956], No. 20454/57. Class 110 (2). In a variable-capacity rotary pump of the outwardly-sliding radial vane-type for priming a centrifugal pump, the stator 11 is provided with opposed recesses 16, 17 which respectively communicate with the inlet 29 and outlet ports of the rotary pump through radial passages 32, 33. The inlet and outlet ports of the rotary pump are in the form of arcuate slots which are disposed in the side plates and communicate respectively with the eye of the centrifugal impeller, through ports therein, and the outlet thereof. The pressure differential across the rotary pump serves to raise the stator in its housing about its fulcrum 9 and against the action of a spring 15 and hence move it into its inoperative position.
