332,471. Ardeltwerke Ges. Oct. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 318,640. Fluid-actuated valves.-A valve according to Specification 316,314 is further characterized in that the closure member is closed by inlet pressure admitted through an aperture to the back thereof, and opened by the suction action of cavitation produced in the outlet when an auxiliary valve is opened. A valve chamber b lying in the fluid stream is encased by a valve box d and carries a valve member a on its front end, its rear end being formed with a concavity e where cavitation takes place. The valve a has an aperture o in its front face, and a skirt a<1> which fits loosely in an aperture in the chamber b. An aperture g, larger than the aperture o, is provided in the base e and is controlled by a mechanically actuated auxiliary valve i. The valve a is held closed bv the inlet pressure admitted to the chamber b through the aperture o and is opened by the actuation of the valve i, first by reduction of pressure in the chamber b and then by the suction action of cavitation in the base e of the chamber b and the reduction of pressure at the surface p<1>, both tending to reduce the pressure in the chamber b. Gearing z allows of mechanical operation of the valve a or the operation of an indicator by the movement of the valve member.
