Pressure - regulating valves. - A pressure limiting device having an inlet valve adapted to be entirely closed when the outlet pressure exceeds a certain maximum pressure and fully opened again when the pressure has fallen to a predetermined minimum, comprises a double beat valve member directly connected to a piston having its outer face open to atmosphere and its inner face subject to steam pressure under the control of an auxiliary valve either mounted on the main piston or separately actuated. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the double beat valve d is moved to the closed position by outlet pressure acting on a piston f against the action of a pair of springs x. The piston is provided with an auxiliary valve member g adapted to engage a seat h on the casing when the main valve is open. The supply of pressure to the piston chamber may be made through an external pipe. In a modification, an auxiliary valve comprising a piston constructed similarly to the piston f is used to control the supply of pressure to a second piston actuating the main valve.
