Valves closing with rush of fluid.-A valve adapted to close in the event of the outlet pipe bursting, and of the type comprising a spring- loaded plug lift valve normally held open by outlet pressure pressing on a piston acting through a lever, is provided with a second piston and a hand - controlled auxiliary valve for initially opening the valve. The valve C is mounted on a spindle c loaded by a spring f and coupled to a lever m. The lever is in turn connected to the spring-loaded pistonrods of pistons i, k. The piston k is subject to outlet pressure admitted through a pipe q provided with a cock q' while the piston i is subject to inlet pressure admitted through a pipe p provided with a cock p<1>. The pipe p is fitted with a whistle r which sounds all the time the piston i is in use.
