In a valve of the type comprising a valve head f and an associated piston g subject to the pressure of the controlled fluid which pressure is, on the upper side of the piston, controlled by an electromagnetically - operated auxiliary valve q located so as to obturate or to free a passage p passing through the valve and the piston, the piston works in a cylinder h secured to a plate-like member j which carries a sheath k housing the core I of a solenoid m and is detachably secured in the upper end of a chamber s forming an upward extension of the casing of the valve, and this chamber is in direct communication with the fluid inlet b and houses the cylinder h. Inlet fluid has continuous access to the space above the upper face of the piston through a restricted passage r, and when valve q is raised, the fluid above the piston flows to the outlet through passage p so that the pressure differential now acting on the piston will lift it and open the main valve f. A metal gauze filter t surrounds the cylinder and engages in a groove surrounding the valve seat.
