Abstract

327,153. Feuerheerd, E., and Malcolm, J. A. Dec. 22, 1928. Fixed-abutment type; discharge passages for pumps; valves, cut-off. - Engines or pumps of the crescent type have hollow ported rotors with movable or flexible flaps forming non-return valves. In the form shown, the rotor 1 has hinged vanes 12 and perforations 15 leading to the hollow interior 16 and covered by a band 22 of metal or leather cut to form flaps 23. The vanes engage an idling drum 7 mounted on bearings 10, 11 on end blocks 4, 5. The suction block 5 has a channel 25 and ports 27 leading to ports 26 in the rotor, while the interior 16 has slots 17 leading to a channel 18 in the shaft 2 on the delivery side. The rotor may be made up of segments with a peripheral ring in sections which cover the ends of the rotor grooves to secure the vanes.
