Abstract

362,758. Rotary engines. STURM, E., 7, Querstrasse, Botnang, Stuttgart, Germany. Feb. 4, 1931, No. 3542. [Class 110 (ii).] In an engine or pump a rotor 4 and a rotary casing 5 are each supported on roller bearings. Sliding vanes 9 are operated by pins 10 in bushes which move round annular grooves 12 in the end covers of the working chamber 14. The pins engage in guides 11 which have a greater bearing area on the outer surface 11<1> than on the inner surface 11<11> so that the fluid pressure in the chamber 14 has an outward component on each end face of a guide 11. Working fluid enters through a conduit 17 and is exhausted through a similar conduit 18 these being in communication with the chamber 14 by means of radial passages 19. Packing strips 13 may be part cylindrical or T- shaped. Two of the above apparatus may be combined to form a fluid gearing. The casing 5 may be adjustable eccentrically with respect to the rotor 4.
