Abstract
577,475. Rotary engines. WATSON, C. D., and MANSELL, R. C. S. April 29, 1944, Nos. 8065/44 and 5838/45. [Class 110 (ii)] The engine or pump has roller vanes 9 having outer parts 21, 23, bearing on the periphery of a roller race 6, and an inner part 30, of less diameter, co-acting with the tapered ends of rotor segments 15 or pins or rollers extending laterally from the rotor. The segments 15, or ring of pins, are eccentrically-positioned relatively to the casing bore 2, so that, for a pump, fluid is delivered from an inlet 26 to an outlet 27. Various forms of roller are described in the Specification, some having needle rollers between outer rings and supporting trunnions. Each roller may have more than three sections. The first Provisional Specification states that the pump may have more than one bore 2, and the rotor eccentricity may be variable.
