Abstract

591,554. Rotary pumps. KIRKLAND, D. E. March 15, 1945, No. 6563. [Class 110 (ii)] The rotor 11 is of hollow cylindrical form open at one end and having a diametrical rib 14 through which the vane 17 slides, and is provided with depressions 19 in advance of the leading faces of the vane to prevent jamming due to grit or other solid bodies in the pumped liquid. A stub shaft 21 is attached to the boss 13 of the rotor by screws 22. The other stub shaft 23 is integral with the rotor but may be attached separately. The plain bearings 25, 29 may be replaced by bearings of the ball or roller types. Specification 5243/07, [Class 110], is referred to.
