Abstract
580,098. Rotary engines and pumps. ROGERS, G. Feb. 17, 1944, No. 3013. [Class 110 (ii)] An eccentric rotor 14, in a casing 13, carries straight or curved vanes 10, the ends of which are curved such that the radii of the ends in any plane of rotation are concentric about a common axis, and the contact at the vane ends with the casing 13 bore, or a hub 11, always lies on the vane radii. In Fig. 1 the vane end radii are struck from a centre 15 which is located at the intersection of lines passing through the vane corners. In a modification, the radii may be unequal, but still have a common centre. The circular surfaces swept by the vane ends may be conical as shown at 18 in Fig. 2, to allow for adjustment of the vanes. Each vane approaching the delivery port D has a radially inward pressure component which tends to relieve the bearing, pressure of the vane tip on the casing bore. Recesses 14, which may contain members 19, Fig. 3 are arranged behind the vanes.
